Budget Sharing & Collaboration

Zenvilope lets you share budgets with other people — useful for household finances, business partners, or anyone who needs visibility into the same budget.

How Sharing Works

Each budget has an owner (the person who created it) and can have additional members. All members see the same accounts, categories, transactions, and allocations.

Inviting Members

1. Open your budget and go to Settings
2. Find the Members section
3. Enter the email address of the person you want to invite
4. Click Invite

The invited person receives an in-app notification. If they don't have a Zenvilope account yet, the invitation waits until they sign up with that email.

Invitation States

• Pending — Sent but not yet responded to
• Accepted — Member joined the budget
• Declined — Invitation was turned down
• Cancelled — Owner withdrew the invitation

Accepting or Declining Invitations

When someone invites you to their budget:

1. Click the notification bell in the top bar
2. You'll see the invitation with the budget name
3. Choose Accept to join or Decline to pass

Once accepted, the shared budget appears in your budget selector alongside your own budgets.

Removing Members

Only the budget owner can remove members:

1. Go to Budget Settings > Members
2. Click remove next to the member's name

WARNING

Removing a member revokes their access immediately. Any transaction flags they created remain visible.

Transaction Flags

Flags let members draw attention to specific transactions — useful for asking questions or requesting review.

Flagging a Transaction

1. Right-click a transaction (or use the context menu)
2. Select Flag for Attention
3. Choose who to flag it for
4. Optionally add a note explaining why

Resolving Flags

The person who receives the flag sees it highlighted. Once addressed:

1. Open the flagged transaction
2. Click Resolve Flag

Resolved flags are kept for history but no longer highlighted.

Notifications

Zenvilope sends in-app notifications for sharing events:

• Invitation received — someone invited you to a budget
• Flag received — a transaction was flagged for your attention
• Member joined — someone accepted your invitation

Notification Bell

The bell icon in the top bar shows your unread count. Click it to see recent notifications and mark them as read.
